Taylor Appel

Taylor is a passionate herbalist intern who found her motivation to walk this path through her own struggles with Crohn's disease and other chronic illnesses. She has felt empowered through her own health journey to spread her knowledge of food as medicine, the vast herbal allies at our disposal, and many creative ways to mitigate suffering and find our authentic selves. Her work as a healer is continually expanding, and she considers it her duty to stay educated on current health modalities, so she can better guide others toward success. She is an innovative chef, lover of art, traveler, writer, naturalist, and free-spirit. Taylor utilizes her vast personal experiences and academic background in nutrition to work together to discover your highest quality of life, and thrive!

Allison Josey

Allison is a clinical herbalist intern, traveling outdoor enthusiast, gardener, grower, wild-crafter, and lover of all things living. Her enthusiasm for plants started as a young girl in the densely forested areas of North Georgia. Her relationship with the earth and its diverse flora and fauna strengthened as a student of Environmental Studies and Watersheds at Western State college of Colorado. During her college years she discovered the incredible world of plant medicine as a treatment for anxiety and depression. On her journey she observed that a holistic approach including exercise and food as medicine, combined with plant allies was the greatest remedy of all. Allison has expanded her practice greatly since her move to southern Oregon’s richly biodiverse environment in 2016. She is now using her experiences to reach out to others to support them on their journey.

Clara Gallagher

Clara is a certified clinical herbalist intern for the Hawthorn Institute. Clara discovered her joy for plant medicine when she realized one of her favorite life activities was learning new plants from her grandmother. This love transformed into a lifelong passion. After completing four years of herbalism school Clara is so excited to empower clients, friends, and family on their paths of connecting with plant medicines. Once a victim of major food allergies, depression, and stagnation, Clara deeply relates and cares about helping her clients reach their optimal physical and mental health goals.

Jessica Morely

Jessica has found a home in the world of herbal medicine.  Born in Seattle, she’s spent her life up and down the west coast, weaving together the strands of her passion for exploring the varied roots of healing.  After studying philosophy and living within contemplative communities for several years, a curiosity for herbalism sparked which has since evolved into a full-fledged life path

Embodiment, empowerment and accompaniment are key elements of her approach to health and healing.  Through her own experience of navigating the complexity of chronic health challenges, Jessica has come to deeply trust in the innate intelligence of the body and in the power of reciprocal relationships with other people and the whole of the natural world.  She’s passionate about the wisdom of the menstrual cycle and holds that deep listening skills and full connection to our bodies has the capacity to facilitate radical change in our world.

Selin Petrosian

Selin’s relationship with plants began early on in her grandmother’s garden and eventually developed into a full-fledged horticultural love affair. Four years ago while volunteering and learning on an herbal farm in New Zealand, she realized her interest in working with plants as allies toward greater health. She believes that each of us has an untouched wilderness filled with innate wisdom within and that nurturing a mutually loving relationship with nature can bring on great personal and collective healing by teaching us how to access that vitality.

Selin studied Ayurveda, bioregional herbalism and ethical wildcrafting in the 425 hour Herbal Foundations program at Hawthorn Institute last year and is currently in our 325 hour clinical program as an intern. Her herbal interests include working with plant spirit medicine and incorporating herbalism into daily life in the medicine cabinet, the kitchen, and the garden.

Amma Rosavalon

Amma is an herbalist, student of Ayurveda, holistic nutrition enthusiast, dancer and lover of life.
She has maintained a lifelong connection to the realms of nature, and that love affair has informed her chosen path as an herbalist and advocate of wellness through connection to nature and its medicines. She is wildly passionate about the interconnectedness between our bodies health and the health of the natural world. Amma believes that a state of wellness is possible for every body, and that the pathway to wellness can be one full of learning, growth and fun. She is excited to take part in your unique journey to wellness.

Amma trained in bioregional herbalism, ethical wildcrafting and Ayurveda in the 425 hour program at Hawthorn Institute, and is currently training in the 325 hour clinical herbalism program at Hawthorn Wellness.

Jaimee Simundson

Meet Jaimee, a song singing, woods walking, pie baking, inspired herbalist. Jaimee’s journey with herbs began several years ago as she pursued healing and exploring grief after her father passed. Along the way, she explored therapy, self-care, mindfulness practices, and body empowerment.

That journey of healing brought her to study herbalism at Hawthorn Institute. Now Jaimee is excited to collaborate with you to create a strategy that supports feeling empowered, comfortable, safe and at home in your body, mind, and spirit. Her approach incorporates both a Western and Ayurvedic lens to understand constitution and imbalance.

She uses goal setting, lifestyle recommendations, self-care, body liberation, reconnecting to nature as tools to recognize your health goals and move forward on your path of healing.

When she’s not nerding out about plants you will find her cooking, reading, wild harvesting, hiking, and always daydreaming.

Mackenzie McDonald Wilkins

Mack grew up exploring the Ouachita mountains of Arkansas with his dad and the Huron river wetlands of Michigan with his mom. He fell deeply in love with nature and, from an early age, recognized the healing power of plants. Mack studied native american healing practices in college and then worked on activist and permaculture projects in the United States, Mexico and India. He moved to southern Oregon in 2016. Mack loves the backcountry and you will often find him far from the human world tracking animals, searching for rare wild plants, or meditating. Mack is an avid runner, backpacker, gardener, dancer, musician, reader, meditator, and Yogi. He loves cooking and sees the kitchen and pharmacy as one. His herbal practice blends ancient Ayurvedic wisdom, traditional western herbalism, and scientific advances from nutrition, biomedicine, and neuroscience.

Pearl Sites

Hawthorn was founded in 2016 by Pearl Sites. Pearl is passionate about plants, personal development, and helping folks become empowered in matters of health and well-being. Pearl currently directs advanced clinical herbalist training programs at Hawthorn Wellness Center. She has a Master’s of Science in Clinical Herbalism from Maryland University of Integrative Health and has been practicing and teaching herbalism for more than a decade.

Pearl is also a founder of Rogue Herbalism, a non-profit dedicated to health sovereignty for all. She is committed to sharing her knowledge and love of herbal medicine with as many folks as possible.

Paris Iha

Paris Rae Iha is a clinical herbalist passionate about supporting people in discovering the connections between health, ecology and herbal medicine. She is a Founder and Board Member of Rogue Herbalism and currently serves as a program director. She is a graduate of the Hawthorn Institute Advanced Practitioner Training Program and holds a B.A in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Social and Eco Justice.

In her community practice she provides clinical consultations, intuitive listening, Reproductive Justice services, and emphasizes personal sovereignty through education and support. She also teaches with local herb programs and deeply enjoys spending time outdoors with her pup. Crafting, nature and ritual are her allies in healing, in addition to herbs.
